Inspiration for this Painting
This painting was inspired by the truth of how the world's poorest classes are making the wealthy lifestyle possible. Quite the inverse of the ancient story of Atlas, now with the weak upholding the world as we know it.
I loathe the braggery and the societal acceptance of those who are creating fortunes on the "backs of the poor," whose tools involve grinding, exaction, starvation wages, coercion, oppression, privatization of resources belonging to the people, and empty promises/lies: all in the name of profit. We have inflated our value in our own eyes, stepped on the misfortunate and then blame this same class for what WE have made of them.
One day our bubble will pop, and it will be seen that without this "despised" lower class, our reach will be limited, as we all make up the system that so few are able to treat as their playground. Remove the foundation and it all comes crashing down. How much longer can such a system survive amidst this stress and utter disregard or those upholding it?
I dream of a day, when the primary industry of the third world will be education and they will show the rest of us real solutions to the world's problems: most of which we have created.
