Inspiration for this Painting
The myriad of political scandals in Canadian Politics occurring a few years back, and likely everywhere else, which is exactly my point: it seems to be everywhere...
To vehemently vomit verbal rhetoric spewed out upon the voters of a nation is ad-nauseum to say the least. As if complicated, legal terminology, speaking at great length around an issue can make corruption legitimate. Perhaps the masses may be fooled but only for a little while, then it always results in voting to punish parties or worse yet, political apathy; thereby, weakening the entire system of Democracy and insulting the intelligence of the electorate. They may not all understand you but the cliché rings true: "actions always speak louder than words." It's no wonder that the system is failing everywhere, when our leaders are failing us? Is there any integrity left?
Vexed and in the spirit of dire cynicism, I mockingly declare (albeit almost accurate).
There are two types of criminals: those that break the laws, and those that make the laws :)
I hereby challenge all political parties everywhere, equipped with their state of the art "vomitous rhetoric" to prove me wrong by acting in office with:
1. Solemn integrity;
2. Treating the position as true leadership, (which entails action, not rhetorical speeches); and NOT as a "9 - 5 job."
3. Acting as a true servant of the electorate and for their interests (and NOT for the self, NOR self interest);
4. Abstaining from action or decisions deemed in the interests of corporate giants, kickbacks, or paid lobbyists. Instead acting for the People whom have elected You. (Some seemingly forgotten notion in some countries "for the people by the people" sound familiar?)
Inevitably, democracy depends on you, your track record, and of those who follow your historical footprints.
Millions of people, their lives and livelihoods, are depending on You and the decisions you make: something never to be taken lightly.
...Just a thought... Has anyone ever wondered just how popular a leader might be in showing a little transparency, studying the bills to vote on, and "whistle-blowing" for a change? It might just "spell bound" the electorate :)
