Spooky Story?

demon mistress

The painting, "Demon Mistress" was initially supposed to be a different portrait; however, I encountered a rather strange problem with painting this...

From the very start, the paint would not stick to the canvas for the portrait I was creating; instead, it wanted to go "it's own way," with paint only sticking at certain points and the canvas seeminly to reject any paint for the portrait I had planned. I repeatedly reworked this for days, resisting this atypical format, to the point of vexing frustration. I finally gave up and decided to paint this in the way that the paint would actually stick, and the result was a very different image... I named it, "Demon Mistress" as it reminded me of a dark presence from my dreams.

In a metaphysical sense, it was as if the painting created itself... You decide...

Day 1
Trouble begins
Trouble begins already

Day 2
demon mistress
Problems with skin tone sticking, kept with grey

Day 3
demon mistress
Tried blue for tone as it was sticking somewhat

Day 4
demon mistress
Face began changing

Day 5
demon mistress
This time I didn't hide the problems of paint sticking to the canvas, this was a constant problem throughout

Day 6: Finished
demon mistress
This was as far as I could take the painting with paint sticking to it's form, not my plans.
